A grant for EMpowered People
from Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge!

We are delighted with the positive feedback following our £1,000 grant to EMpowered People, a local Calderdale disability cycling charity that puts “fun and excitement back into the lives of people with disabilities through the power of cycling and inspires those with additional needs to take up cycling as a means of increased wellbeing, independence and fitness”.

The grant went towards the cost of replacing their aging fleet of e-bikes – used together with a recumbent bike to create a “bike-train”, with an able-bodied pilot to accompany their more disabled cyclists, who can contribute with arm or leg power.

Spokesman Simon Lord tells us that “It is very empowering … to help and support a person to enjoy the freedom that Inclusive Cycling can offer. The new bikes have at least twice the range of the old ones and have proved a great success. We hope that they will see us through the next ten years”.
