Calder Valley Community Land Trust

Support for the Calder Valley Community Land Trust with a Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge grant of £1,600 towards their important project to enhance communications with members and the wider community. The Trust, a registered provider of social housing in partnership with Connect Housing, currently manages several developments across the Calder Valley including sites in Walsden, Todmorden, and Hebden Bridge, offering affordable rented homes and secure tenancies primarily for residents on lower incomes.

Beyond housing, the Trust also looks after valued community assets like Fielden Hall in Todmorden and the Hebden Bridge Signal Box. The grant will enable the Trust to update and restructure their website to showcase recent progress and new branding, along with producing a refreshed printed annual review to share details of completed, ongoing, and planned projects. Two local consultants offering reduced rates will help deliver this cost-effective project.

Improved communications will boost public engagement, transparency, and support—encouraging more donations of land, property, and funds to expand affordable housing and maintain vital community resources. The project will strengthen the Trust’s ability to serve the upper Calder Valley.  This impactful local organisation embodies the spirit of public benefit and local pride.

This project is a perfect fit for Rotary’s charitable aims, advancing community development and providing relief for those in need by supporting affordable housing and community facilities. Enhanced communications are expected to increase transparency, public engagement, and community support, encouraging more donations of land, property, and funds to expand housing and secure community assets. The Rotary Club looks forward to continuing to develop links with the Trust and supporting its ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for residents across the Calder Valley.
