Getting Equal Care back on the road!
We are delighted to announce our support for Equal Care Co-operative, a ground-breaking social care organisation based in the Calder Valley. Equal Care is unique in its approach: it is owned and run by care workers, people receiving support, and their families, all working together to create a truly person-centred care system. By focusing on relationships and collaboration, Equal Care ensures that everyone involved has a voice and that care is delivered with compassion and respect.
One of the challenges faced by care workers in the Calder Valley is the area’s hilly terrain and the need for efficient, environmentally friendly transport between visits. Electric bikes are the ideal solution, but two of their bikes were out of action. With the help of a £1,000 grant from our Club and a generous discount from Recharge Bikes, Equal Care has been able to purchase two replacement electric bikes. They will make it easier for care workers to reach people in need, especially in areas where public transport is limited or where car use is impractical. Not only will this reduce travel time and fatigue for the team, but it will also help lower the co-operative’s carbon footprint, supporting a greener, cleaner Calder Valley.
By enabling Equal Care’s team to travel more easily and sustainably, we are helping to ensure that vulnerable members of our community receive timely, high-quality support. The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge is proud to stand alongside Equal Care Co-operative in building a more caring and connected valley for everyone.
Congratulations to Amy and her Equal Care colleagues. Their kindness and commitment is making a real difference.
