Inca Trail Challenge
Inca Trail challenge for Overgate Hospice
We have made a £500 donation directly to Overgate Hospice in support of popular local postmaster Satnam Singh, who is preparing to take on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
In late October, Satnam will travel to Peru as part of Team Overgate. The group will trek through the Andes along ancient Inca pathways, passing through mountain scenery, valleys and historic ruins on the way to Machu Picchu.
It is no small undertaking. The route involves long days of walking, steep climbs, high altitude and difficult terrain. The final day begins before sunrise, with the team reaching the Sun Gate to see Machu Picchu as daylight reaches the mountains.
Satnam is taking on the challenge to raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice. The hospice provides specialist care, emotional support and comfort for local people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as for their families and loved ones.
Those who know Satnam will not be surprised that he has chosen such a demanding way to fundraise. In his own words, he would rather do something challenging in order to encourage support, but the cause is a serious and important one, and every donation can help Overgate continue its work in the Calderdale community.
We are delighted to add our support through this £500 contribution and we wish Satnam every success as he undertakes the trek. We know he’s up to the challenge!
We hope that others in Hebden Bridge and beyond will also support his efforts.
