Riding for the Disabled

We are delighted to announce a £1,000 grant committed to the Hebden Bridge Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), supporting their vital facility upgrade project—subject to the successful raising of the remaining funds required to complete the improvements.

The Hebden Bridge RDA provides equine-assisted activities for disabled children and adults, improving physical wellbeing and emotional health through riding and horse care. The group’s expanded services, including wellbeing sessions for non-riders, ensure that people with mobility, cognitive, and sensory challenges can benefit from horse contact in a safe, supportive environment.

The overall predicted cost of this phase of the upgrade project is £2,376. The plans include the installation of a generator and the necessary electrical connections to provide heating, lighting and electrical outlet sockets.  These improvements will allow the group to extend sessions for more months each year, create better accessibility, and accommodate a greater number of local people in need - less waiting and more comfort for the participants and their families.

Hebden Bridge RDA relies on the generosity of the local community and friends to bring about these transformative changes. Every donation, large or small, will directly support essential works and help expand life-changing opportunities for disabled children and adults. If you are interested in donating, contributions can be made by contacting the group directly. Call them at 01422 847557.  Please consider joining the effort to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable people in Calderdale and beyond.  Even a modest gift will help turn the vision of accessible equine therapy into reality, even in the colder months.
