Excited to support Rosie Dowson!
We are excited and proud to support Rosie Dowson, a talented 16-year-old triathlete from our local area, seen here running at the Bournemouth Triathlon on 14th September. Rosie was first in her under-20 age group and fifth fastest woman in a strong field of 102. The race was a challenging course with a beach start featuring her first-ever sea swim, followed by a steep zigzag climb up the cliff, a demanding bike ride on open roads, and a final run along the promenade finishing on the beach. It was an excellent result, especially considering her age, qualifying her for the European Triathlon Championships in Spain next year. This achievement builds on her steady progression through tough national and international events, including her participation in the Newcastle GB qualifier held in July this year.
Rosie trains with Craven Energy Triathlon Club and belongs to the Yorkshire Triathlon Talent Squad, balancing rigorous training and competitions with her studies. She has already qualified for several major events such as the European and World Duathlon Championships and the European Triathlon Championship in Turkey. Fundraising towards race fees, travel, and equipment continues, with support from the community helping make her ambitions possible. Rosie is an inspiration to other young people to take up sport, reflecting the spirit of Rotary’s commitment to youth development. We invite everyone to follow her journey and cheer her on as she strives for excellence in this demanding sport.
